BIR Form No. 2316

What is Form 2316 and why do some companies require this in Pre-Employment Checklist?

BIR Form No. 2316 is a certificate to be accomplished and issued to each employee receiving salaries, wages and other forms or remuneration by each employer indicating therein the total amount paid and the taxes withheld therefrom during the calendar year. This Certificate in turn should be attached to the Annual Income Tax Return (BIR Form 1700 - for individuals receiving purely compensation income, or BIR Form 1701 for individuals with mixed income). http://www.bir.gov.ph/index.php/bir-forms/certificates.html

It is a Certificate of Compensation Payment / Tax Withheld For Compensation Payment With or Without Tax Withheld. It simply indicates that your income had been taxed.

How to get it?

If you are currently employed: your employer will give it to you before the current year-end.

If you are applying for a new job: your previous employer will give this form to you during the last payment of your wage/salary along with your Certificate of Employment and Clearance. This is during the last day of your service.

If your form 2316 is still not available: just ask your previous employer as to when you’ll be able to get it. But if your current company is strict with policies; they may ask you to sign a waiver.

If you do not have a previous employer on the current year: please advise your current employer and ask them if you need to complete a waiver.

Please take note: should you get it from previous employer if the employment is within the current year.

The Backstage Cafe

It’s been over seven years since the last time I wrote on blogs. And sadly, my old blog (bluefire.i.ph) shut down last 2012.

Never mind my reminiscing, let’s talk about some best yet affordable restaurants in the wonderful city of Davao. Yes, my re-first blog would be about “food”.

For the recent years, I, together with my special friend have been roaming around and trying out new fun things - and that of course, includes tasting out the best cuisine in the city.

I’d like to start with my favorite…

Oh wow this is hard! I can’t even decide which one.

Hmmm, okay, I’ll just start with the recent restaurant we’ve tried:

The Backstage Cafe

It is located at A. IƱigo St., Bajada, Davao City (Near McDonald's Bajada Branch). This place is very open, diners are visible to passers-by, no aircon, and thick humidity. BUT people still flock here... for the food and service, not for the ambiance.

Food is great. You can choose from wide range of Lutong Bahay. They also serve Chicken and Pork barbecue. My personal favorites would be their Chicken Curry, Grilled Tuna, and Beef Steak. Their rice, unlike other toro-torong restaurants is perfectly cooked and still warm when served.

Service is also fast. During my first time eating here, I was shocked when the crews just put soft drinks and hot beef soup on our table. I was worried that they might bill as additional fee but I kept silent instead, knowing that if I complained, the owner might scold them (yes, the owner was there).

It was when we were billing out that we found out that they do serve free drinks and hot soup when you dine in. Of course, it's a great plus! Cheap food with free drinks? Why not!

You might be wondering about their prices. Well, it will only cost you 50.00php per serving and 10.00php for rice. Awesome, right?

Just remember that you are paying for the food here, not the ambiance.
